Towards2050 Beijing

KCAP participates as one of 12 Dutch experts in the 2014 edition of Towards2050: Developing a Sino-Dutch Approach for Sustainable Urbanisation. The program consists of workshops and seminars in which Chinese and Dutch designers and experts participate. The programme is part of the Dutch contribution to the Beijing Design Week.

KCAP is part of the multi-disciplinary one-week workshop on a TOD (Transit Oriented Design) project in Beijing, curated by Mr. Wu Chen of Beijing Design Institute (BIAD), Prof. Mr. Wu Weijia of the Department of Urban Planning of Tsinghua University and deputy director of the Institute of Architectural and Urban studies, Mr. Cui Kai, vice president and chief architect at China Architecture Design & Research Group and Ton Venhoeven of Dutch Venhoeven CS architects.

The project focusses on the development of a future high speed train station in the North of Beijing. The workshop intends to investigate different approaches and strategies for this multi-modal transportation hub. The first results will be presented tomorrow, Friday 19th and will be followed by a week of reflection, discussions and seminars on the subject with parties such as the Worldbank and the Chinese Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD). The project is commissioned by the Beijing Municipal Commission of Urban Planning (BMCUP) and the Creative Industries Fund NL.
