Back to architecture and urban planning

The most important task for the coming 20 years is to design good living environment for the citizens. For these coming 20 years, we need to design strong urban settings and qualitative building mass. Comfortable, solid and elegant urban environments, which host modern everyday life, and facilitate accurate urban daily systems.

How can this be done when architecture and urban planning can be found only at the bottom of the priorities list, whereas technical and economical parameters of a building prevail? How can this be done so it becomes attractive to developers and investors, and mutually beneficial ways for the city and residents? Is the urban block the answer?

Based on KCAP experience in cities as Saint-Petersburg, Perm, Moscow, Novosibirsk, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen and Volgograd, this lecture focuses on architectural and urban planning principles that lead to proper urban environments. The projects are rooted in KCAP experience in projects in cities like Amsterdam, Zurich, London and Hamburg. KCAP produce architectural objects and urban structures that are extremely basic, but at the same time of high quality, with good materialization, well ordered and elegant in composition.

Ruurd Gietema will lecture on September 7th at 2:30 pm at the Russian 2-day real estate conference PROestate in Moscow.
